The present book is the unsightful compilation offering a comprehensive account of the fundamental principles of physiology of angiosperms. It incorporates and organizes the information concerning plant physiology from relevant and authentic sources. In the beginning, ideas about evolution of angiosperms were based on the study of modern plants. This is because of lack of fossil records. Fossil paucity is due to the fact that plants in upland areas were not presevered as fossils. Diversification of the angiosperms to coastal and alluvial areas about 110 million years ago allowed deposition of plant remains and fossilization. One classic theory suggests that first angiosperms were Magnolia like trees. Angiosperms or flowering plants are the most distributed plants in whole world with largest numbers of species. The range of their size is very wide. Adaptive radiation has led to produlion of saprophytes without chlorophlyll, parasites and epiphytes. Diversity in flower structure in angiosperm is another remarkable feature of flowering plants. The term flower usually denotes a structure having sepals, petals, stamens, and carpels. Sanjay Kumar Sharma is Ph.D in Botany from M.G.S. University Bikaner. His 16 year teaching experience of under graduate classes and 2 year teaching experience of PG classes. He supervised 11 M.phil dissertations. He had published 16 research papers in reputed national and international journals related to Botany. Presently he is working as Assistant Professor in the department of Botany in Government P.G.College Dharmshala (H.P).
