Microbiology is the study of all microscopic organisms, principally bacteria, fungi and viruses. Microbiology is one of the foundation of biological sciences. Microbiology is the branch of biology dealing with the study of organisms, which are ordinarily too small to be seen by naked eye, i.e. microscopic in size. Microorganisms are closely associated with human life and have a wide application in different areas related to mankind. According to the widely accepted theory of origin of life, tiny microbes were first to be evolved. Microbiology laboratories receive swabs, faeces, urine, blood, sputum, medical equipment, as well as possible infected tissue. They culture this to check for any pathogenic microbes. Pathogenic microbes may be bacteria, fungi, viruses or other parasites. Viruses are difficult to culture because they require living cells to reproduce. Virology is therefore done in larger medical laboratories. Bacteria, fungi and other non-viral parasites can grow independently of other living organisms if they are provided with the correct nutrients and growth conditions. Culturing the organism in this way will assist in identifying it and studying possible therapies against it. In effect, the book analyses how microbiological progress have made an impact in allied sciences and the developments currently it also looks into the future of the field, exploring what needs to be done, and the contemporary processes in the field. Dr. Neeraj Tandan, did B.S.c (Biosciences) and M.Sc. from Chudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut with Specialization in Plant Biotechnology, After award U.G.C JRF-SRF during Ph.D then recently completed his Post Doctoral program under scheme of U.G.C. He is also having teaching experience of more than 4 years in Post Graduate Student in Various University. He has published more than a dozen research papers in various national and international journals and two patents also. He has organized 4 National Seminar 2 International and 4 workshop. He has handled two externally funded projects, as well as edited three books. He has two published books and prestigious awards namely 'Young Scientist' Award. He guided lots of students for M.Sc. Biotechnology, Microbiology and Bioinformatics degree and presently guiding more 28 research scholars for Ph.D. and he is member of various Academic and Science Societies. Presently working as a capacity of Pro- Vice Chancellor OPJS, University, Churu, Rajasthan.
